The YWCA of New York City (YW-NYC) Board of Directors is comprised of talented women leaders who are dedicated to the organization's mission of eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Our goal is to broaden and diversify our dynamic team with new voices and varied perspectives as we implement our strategic growth plan. We are actively seeking new board members who reflect the cultural diversity of the communities we serve.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership in one of the following areas - Communications/PR, Technology, Education, Healthcare, Non-Profit Management, or Social Justice.

Over the past two years, the YW-NYC operated under the leadership of an interim CEO. This was a period of transition; we evaluate our strategy and subsequently refined our program portfolio. A new CEO, Maureen Friar, was hired in August 2019. Maureen has brought new energy and passion to the organization. General requirements

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 30
  • Board members are required to attend 3 (out of 4) board meetings per year, and serve on one of more committees. Time commitment is 6-10 hours/month. Board members are expected to attend at least 1 program event/year and the annual fundraiser.
  • Board members play an active role in securing financial resources by leveraging personal and professional relationships to identify and solicit potential funders. Also expected to make a meaningful personal financial contribution.
