Become trained to participate locally, regionally or nationally in American Red Cross disaster responses.
The American Red Cross relies on volunteers to the help prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies. Volunteers make up over 90 percent of the Disaster workforce and make it possible to respond to nearly 70,000 disasters every year.
The American Red Cross provides FREE disaster training for all volunteers. Training classes may be completed online or in-person depending on the courses required.
* National deployment is an option and is NOT required.
* Disaster worker is a general term. Members are grouped according to interest areas and training for activities such as sheltering, feeding, logistics, mental health (licensed only), health services (licensed only), staff services (HR), public affairs, technology, government relations, administrative support and a variety of other functions.
* Local activity is required for deployment to large-scale national operations. Supervisor status may also be required for such deployments
