Our friendly visitors (a.k.a. Direct Patient Care volunteers) provide non-medical support to the hospice team. These volunteers offer a friendly smile and a comforting presence to our patients and their families. They can provide caregiver relief, light housekeeping, light meal preparation, and/or assist with errands- based on patient/family needs and what YOU can provide as a volunteer. All of these kind gestures will mean a lot to our hospice patients and their loved ones. Volunteers are usually assigned at least two patients and visit weekly or biweekly, either in the patient's home or at the facility they reside.
Background check, drug screening, & TB testing are all required; however, costs are covered by the company. The on-boarding process takes about two weeks from interview to the assignment of a volunteer's first patient. Ongoing training and support is provided!
