We advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves

PA Racehorse Rehoming, Rehabilitation & Rescue (PARR) is a 501(c)3 non-profit equine welfare organization that takes in, cares for, rehabilitates, retrains and rehomes Thoroughbred horses who have previously raced or been in training to race (occasionally other breeds and non-racing horses as well). We also work to educate the community about ex-racehorse (OTTB) abilities, talents and inherent value, thus helping unwanted horses and those no longer able to perform up to the standards of their previous connections, to find permanent loving homes. PARR also maintains a lifetime sanctuary for unadoptable or permanently high maintenance/special needs horses.

Now PARR is desperately in need of volunteers!! No previous experience around horses necessary, but always helpful.

We are looking for are some willing, dedicated, motivated and caring animal-lovers willing to donate some time to help out at our main rescue farm in Harrisburg, PA.

There are many things that need doing around the PARR farm from hands-on grooming and working with the horses to barn work and farm maintenance and repairs.

This volunteer opportunity can involve chores such as barn work, stall cleaning, feeding/watering of the farm animals, grooming/brushing and spending time with the horses, walking around pastures to identify and remove possible hazards and lost horsewear, riding, organizing, farm maintenance and repair such as fence and shed mending, stall board replacement etc.

Just to reiterate, you do NOT need to have experience working with horses in order to volunteer and be part of our group to help out. We will make sure you are only involved with tasks that you are comfortable with.

As we are a full-time working farm, we are here and in need of volunteers 7 days a week anywhere from 730am-6pm. You have your pick of hours and times and frequency with which you can come out to volunteer.

Please contact us for more information or with any questions that you may have. You must be at least 16 yo and will be asked to sign a release of liability agreement. Our experienced members or help will always meet with you to discuss our protocols and be on-site while you are volunteering.

There are over 30 horses and they could really use someone like you~
