Are you a pro, or new, to running or biking AND interested in helping build a brighter future for a Rochester youth by becoming a mentor? Bolder Options is an activity-based, one-to-one youth mentoring program. We use running & biking, academic goal setting and volunteerism to build self-esteem and encourage healthy habits in 10 - 14 year old youth. Bolder Options seeks adult mentors willing to meet weekly, 2-4 hours for one year, with one youth engaged in activities like running or biking, volunteering in the community, attending program meetings, working on youth goals and exploring Rochester. Bolder Options trains and supports mentors throughout the year with the goal of teaching youth to succeed in all of life's races. *Runners and bikers of all abilities are welcome. You must be physically able to run or walk a 5K* Mentor Responsibilities: Complete mentor application Commit to a one-year match with one youth, meeting 2-4 hours a week Meet program coordinator, youth and family in their home for the match introduction Take mentee to pick out a pair of running shoes or a bike & helmet (provided by Bolder Options) Attend Mentor Follow-Up Training within 4 months of match date Attend program meetings and group activities with your mentee Complete a minimum of three cycling or running events with your mentee Attend graduation ceremony at the end of the one-year match Runners and bikers of all abilities are welcome.
