Project Details

The Western Dairyland RSVP Project volunteers are taking on a project devoted to providing weekend food assistance for children in need. Focusing on our young people, we provide packaged food, at no cost, for students to eat on non-school days, such as weekends and holidays. This project is available to all students up to 18 years of age. There are no income guidelines to receive weekend food assistance- any children are eligible as long as they attend one of the three locations listed below. Food bags are sent home with students every Thursday school is in session from October through May and can include food for all children in the home. The RSVP Weekend Food 4 Kids Project is seeking volunteers to assemble food packages for distribution to Independence Public and Parochial School and the Head Start Center in Independence.

Volunteers are needed 1 hour each week to assemble food bags, and 1 hour each week to help distribute the food bags. Volunteers are also needed for 2 hours once every 1-2 months to help unload the Feed My People food delivery truck and help sort items to place on shelves for future weekly distributions.

Western Dairyland's RSVP Program connects adults age 55 and over with meaningful volunteer service in communities throughout Buffalo, Eau Claire, Jackson, Pepin and Trempealeau Counties. The opportunity posted above is just one of hundreds of opportunities!
