NAMI-San Fernando Valley (The National Alliance on Mental Illness) needs an immediate take- charge leader experienced with the ebb and flow of working with a volunteer team in a start-up environment! If you are an EXPERIENCED recruiter and have been in management positions in the past, we'd like to talk you, especially if you have a personal connection to mental illness.

NAMI-SFV has been serving the mental health needs of the community for over 35 years. We offer FREE classes, support groups, referrals, information meetings, resources and training for anyone affected by mental illness. 10M people live in the LA area. At least 1 in 5 may need our help. As a volunteer, you can help us expand our reach and bring hope and better quality lives to so many.

You have:
  • A take-charge ease with the start-up environment
  • Experience writing job ads and posting them to volunteer boards
  • Experience recruiting paid and unpaid job opportunites
  • Full command of the English language, both orally and written
  • Have an enthusiastic and charasmatic personality, able to persuade and attract all types of people
  • Patience to work with a team of unpaid workers at varying levels of skill
  • A willingness to learn our organization and be a fearless change agent where needed
  • The ability to self-start and be self-motivated
  • The ability to create, implement and monitor sensible procedures and processes
  • The ability to train new recruiters and recruitment assistants (once you learn, of course)
  • Wonderful conversation
  • A passion for helping others
  • Great leadership and critical thinking skills
We'll give you guidance on what to do stepping in the virtual door and will continue to do that through our Slack workspace which keeps us connected through instant messages, phone calls, video-chats, and document sharing.
