ABOUT US:

The Worldview Project is a San Diego based non-profit whose mission is to promote cross-cultural awareness, understanding, and appreciation through web-based resources, programs, publications, social networking and local events.

OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION:

The Worldview Project is seeking volunteers or interns who have had professional journalism experience or upper division college-level journalism coursework. Responsibilities include: attending and researching events, interviewing people and writing articles suitable in tone and content for publication for our online magazine, The San Diego Participant Observer. A lively writing style that is expository and descriptive is editorially favored over subjective and personal approaches. Applicants should understand that depending on circumstance, subject matter and skills, the editorial process can occasionally be arduous and painstaking including the possibility of entire rewrites or pulling the plug on an article if it lacks relevance to our mission. Applicants should also understand that the publication process is highly collaborative. We are seeking writers who have a thirst for getting to the bottom of things and strive for excellence. Proofreading skills and familiarity with content management systems are helpful, but not required. Reliable transportation is very helpful.

Please note that if your experience writing is with blogging or social media posting, then you may be asked to split your volunteer work between article writing and content development for one or more of our websites.

Most of our work happens during normal business hours, with only occasional weekend or evening hours requested. Our minimum commitment for a volunteer is 120 hours within a 6 months period and for interns, 120 hours within a 3 months timeframe.

Please visit our website at www.thewvp.org and our online magazine at www.parobs.org for more information about our organization and the work we do!
