Virtual Opportunity. Now more than ever, fresh, clean socks (and underwear!) are vital for people's health, warmth, comfort, and dignity and the least donated item to people in greatest need. And

By participating in Operation Sock Drop you not only help keep our community's most vulnerable neighbors safe and healthy, but you will also help maintain their dignity and comfort during this most difficult time in their lives. The shelters we support give out over 8,000 pairs/year so we are always in great need!

You can organize a drive virtually with your co-workers, classmates, colleagues or even with friends, family and neighbors, and it's very easy to run. Some people are even running one on their Facebook pages!

To participate all you and your co-workers, school mates, colleagues or friends need do is just go to your favorite online store (Target, Walmart, Old Navy, even CVS and Walgreen's) and purchase some new pairs of men's or women's socks, pair of underwear or undershirt (men's XL and 2XL are always needed) and have them shipped to Dwayne Brown, Southampton Shelter, 112 Southampton Street, Boston, MA 02118. It's an easy and inexpensive way to make a big impact on the comfort, health, safety and dignity of our community's homeless.

Friends of Boston's Homeless helps the Woods Mullen Women's Shelter and the 112 Southampton Men's Shelter (formerly Long Island Shelter) in the South End. These shelters serve over 800 homeless individuals every day. The shelters provide safe, dignified care and basic emergency services including a nutritious meal, hot shower, a warm bed, clothing and toiletries to each and every individual in need.
