Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles is an economic development project of the African People's Education and Defense Fund (APEDF). APEDF is a 501c3 non-profit that defends the civil and human rights of the African community and addresses the disparities faced by the African community in education, health, health care and economic development. APEDF is building self-determination in the African community.

Getting the word out about Uhuru’s work and mission is a large part of what has gone into making us a success over the past 28 years. We find that getting out in the community and getting feet on the ground is the best way of spreading the word about Uhuru. We are looking for an Onsite Outreach coordinator who can assist the Manager in organizing and running successful outreach campaigns in the Bay Area.


Under the supervision of the Manager, you will:

  • Manage groups of 15-30 volunteers during outreach sessions
  • Oversee the distribution of advertising materials
  • Conduct onsite orientation sessions
  • Liaise and coordinate day-of activities with volunteer group leaders
  • Manage preparation and collection of all materials for distribution in advance
  • Prepare maps to coordinate distribution
  • Post outreach event updates on social media

  • We are looking for a people oriented person who is comfortable speaking in front of groups
  • Is organized, punctual, reliable and honest
  • Can work independently and is a creative problem solved
  • Have a strong passion for the APEDF mission (www.apedf.org), self-determination and economic development for the African community
  • Must have access to a car
