You can be the eyes and ears to help MADD, and other agencies, see what our local courts are doing in regard to the criminal cases that are about DWI/DUI. You can make a difference as you get to attend these tough criminal court hearings in Harris County. The Court Monitor Volunteer is responsible for attending DWI court cases at the Harris County Criminal Justice Center and Montgomery County Courts. They will collect information that can be used to recommend constructive improvements to our judicial system. Volunteers evaluate judges, prosecutors, defense lawyers and court staff for preparedness, understanding of the law, treatment of victims and the manner in which the proceedings are held. Collecting data and tracking in our system is also vital to the effective court monitoring volunteer. Many times a Court monitor attends court to also show support to a family of a victim. This is a great way to get an insiders look into the criminal court process. Make your community safer by helping build a bridge of communication between private citizens and the court system. If you are interested in the legal and criminal justice system then this is an open door for you!
