Each year in Howard County, children are abused and neglected or abandoned by their families. These children are removed from their homes and placed in foster care or institutions. That's where Voices for Children CASA volunteers come in. Our CASA volunteers work to ensure that all children have a safe and permanent home.
Training will begin September 21 and run for 7 consecutive Monday evenings. Training focuses on the dynamics of child abuse and neglect, an understanding of the court process and familiarity with community resources. After completion of training and background checks, volunteers are assigned a child through the court system.
