Project Details

PeerFoward will connect 1.8 million students from low-income communities to college and career over the next decade. We do this by training influential high school students - Peer Leaders - to motivate their classmates over the school year to enroll in college. You can join PeerForward and help train these Peer Leaders at Summer Workshops on college campuses across the nation.

Summer Workshops are the cornerstone of the PeerForward program. This is where the transformation occurs from student to Peer Leader. Training includes:

  • Financial Aid 101
  • Developing a List of Good Fit Colleges
  • Crafting a Personal Statement
  • Four days on a college campus changes the trajectory of a student’s life. Eighty percent of students who attend a Summer Workshop enroll in college. In the past two decades, PeerForward has worked with 250,000 students from over 500 schools across the nation. PeerForward’s peer-to-peer model doubles the likelihood that a low-income student will enroll in college.

You can help by volunteering as a Writing Coach or College Coach. For four days, Writing Coaches work in small teams of 8-10 students to jump start the college application process, beginning with the personal statement/essay and College Coaches work one-on-one with 8-10 students to help build a personalized list of good-fit colleges.

  • By volunteering, you’ll participate in one of the most inspirational weekends of your life, connect to students and other volunteers in your community, receive free room & board for the entire Workshop, and most importantly, empower students from low-income communities to reach their true potential! Workshops will be hosted in Florida, New York, and Maryland. Check out the PeerForward website for specific dates and locations.
