Disaster Services responds to events of all types. In addition to single family home fires, American Red Cross trained volunteers respond to local disasters such as floods, tornados and hurricanes. They provide shelter, food, and health and mental health services. There is also an opportunity to assist with national disasters such as hurricanes, tornados, and floods. The core of American Red Cross disaster relief is the assistance given to individuals and families affected by disaster to enable them to resume their normal daily activities independently.
