Make a difference for a child in foster care. Become a CASA volunteer!
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Santa Cruz County seeks adult volunteers to speak up for abused and neglected foster children. CASA volunteers are everyday citizens appointed by judges to advocate for the safety and best interest of children who have been removed from their home because of abuse or neglect and to make sure they don’t get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system.
Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives.
No special background or education is required to become a CASA volunteer. We encourage people from all cultures and professions, and of all ethnic and educational backgrounds to learn more.
If you can devote 2-4 hours per week, make a two-year commitment to help guide a child through a complex system of social workers, foster parents, therapists and lawyers, while building a consistent, caring, mentoring relationship, then contact CASA of Santa Cruz County today at 831-761-2956, ext. 102 or casavolunteer@casaofsantacruz.org.
