Overview:
South Bronx United College Advisory Interns work closely with SBU's Director of College Guidance and Alumni to help coordinate and supervise the College Prep Program. interns work 2 days per week and get hands on experience administering an educational program, tracking student progress towards college, and advising students on academic needs. The internship is perfect for those looking to gain experience in the fields of educational administration an college counseling.

September - May
Mondays and Wednesdays 5:30-8:00pm (preferred)

Qualifications:
Enthusiastic and caring with a specific interest in education and youth empowerment.Should have a background in working with youth.Experience and knowledge of College Application process, Financial Aid, SUNY and CUNY college application processesBachelors DegreeCommitment:
Interns must commit to coming in a minimum of three days per week. Monday and Wednesday evenings are preferred but not required.
Training:
All interns will receive training from the Director of College Guidance and Alumni.

While the position is unpaid, interns have the opportunity to work directly with our Director of College Guidance and with our Director of Education Programs to lean firsthand the best practices for ensuring a pathway to college for all students.
Responsibilities in Detail:Track program attendance and progress of all studentsFamily outreach/student outreach to improve student attendance at programsManage procurement and entry of student records and documents (transcripts, report cards, tax returns, waivers, etc.)Research important college prep resources needed for each student (relevant scholarships, trade schools, additional SAT Prep & Regents Prep resources, GED option, etc.)
