Heartland Hospice is looking for caring and dedicated people with an interest in serving hospice patients and their families throughout Anne Arundel County. Volunteers serve a vital role in our patients’ lives and are rewarded with the knowledge that what they do makes a wonderful difference. Our patients are looking for someone with an open mind and heart and with whom they can share conversation as they have many stories and wisdom just waiting to be told. We also serve patients who can no longer communicate verbally, but need the compassionate presence of a volunteer and the engagement and validation of their companionship.

Volunteers are trained to spend time with hospice patients in the context of friendly visits and relief sitting for their caregivers. Training for this opportunity is provided and assignment of patients is determined by patient need and volunteer availability. As your journey unfolds, we'll support you with personalized mentoring and cultivation of your hospice experiences.
