The Mission of the Adult Literacy Service is simple: Assist adults in improving their basic literacy skills, thereby empowering them to reach their full potential and participate more fully in society.

Consider being a tutor if you are 18 or older, able to read, speak English clearly and are willing to:

After completing training, tutors volunteer their time for 1 to 2 hours at least once a week. Basic materials for tutor and learner are provided at no charge. Tutoring space is available at most library locations along with several other public sites. Literacy staff provides assistance and support as learners progress through the program.
