The Children’s Scholarship Fund (CSF) provides children of low-income families with tuition assistance in grades K-8, and supports expanding educational opportunities for all children.
While efforts are underway to improve education options, Children’s Scholarship Fund (CSF) is providing low-income children with immediate access to a quality education. In fact, since our inception in 1998, CSF has invested $789 million in the education of 174,000 children, including 33,000 in New York City, encouraging them to fulfill their potential and become valuable contributors to society.
Key to our success is strong family involvement, which is rooted in the financial contribution required of all families. Specifically, every family is required to pay a minimum of 25 percent of their tuition, ensuring they are fully invested and empowered in their children’s education and that a CSF scholarship is truly a hand-up, not a hand-out. Also, families are free to choose the school their child attends and can always transfer a CSF scholarship if they are unhappy with their chosen school.
This school year, because of the generosity of our donors, the efforts of our partner programs nationwide, and the sacrifices made by the families themselves, more than 26,500 low-income children across the country are attending private schools on a CSF scholarship, including more than 7,800 children in New York City.
