Description

CAP is a volunteer organization with an aviation-minded membership that includes people from all backgrounds, lifestyles, and occupations. Originally formed in 1941, today it performs three Congressionally-assigned key missions:

Emergency Services, which includes search and rescue (by air and ground), disaster relief operations, communications, and homeland security missions along with operating the largest fleet of single-engine aircraft in the world;

Aerospace Education provides aviation related materials and activities for CAP members, educators, K-12 students and the general public in such areas as space, rocketry, aviation engineering and Science Technology Engineering & Math (STEM) subjects; and

Cadet Programs, directed at aviation-minded teenagers with a framework where they can learn about leadership and aerospace and promote physical fitness and community service.
