Our mission: To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research, to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Our vision is a world without Alzheimer's.
We are the Greater Kentucky/Southern Indiana Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, the largest private, nonprofit funder of research on Alzheimer's in the world. We are one of over 70 Alzheimer's Association Chapters serving communities across the United States. We have marked great success with the introduction of the Breakthrough Act, calling for $2 billion in federal funding for Alzheimer's research at the National Institute of Health and the advancement of NAPA, the National Alzheimer's Project Act, designed to create a national strategic plan focused on the Alzheimer's crisis. Our chapter remains heavily focused on the needs of the caregiver, both family and professional, as their role in the journey increases during later stages. Our Teaching Learning Institute, celebrating and sharing the Best Friends Approach, reaches more individuals each year, with sold-out seminars on the basics of dementia, improving activities, surviving behavioral changes, and grieving the loss of past relationships.
